Rubicon bubble graphics and interceptor warp (Singularity)

This video shows the new graphics for warp disruption bubbles and illustrates the buffed interceptor warp capabilities. The sequence starts by warping a malediction from a gate to the only station in system. Note how the warp-path leads through the bubble deployed near the station – the interceptor is interdiction nullified. Also note the sharp acceleration and (even more visible) deceleration into and from warp.

Flying the ship close to and into the bubble reveals the new graphics. While I like the general appearance very much, it also appears considerably less “whirly” and confusing as the current version in the game. If this graphics makes it onto TQ it would be a considerable nerf to the confusing effects bubbles have. I am not really happy about this. With the reduced visibility of the bubble itself the background – in this case a galaxy nebula – sticks out more clearly and has a very small paralaxis. This creates a strange effect which destroys the 3D experience of the scene as the background is perceived “in front” of the bubble graphics. I hope this will be rectified somehow.

Finally we warp the malediction out of the bubble to a gate. Look at that drop from warp 🙂
